A picture of me!

Hi there! I'm Hilly, and I'm recent grad from at the University of Washington, where I received a master's degree in computational linguistics. I'm passionate about accessible technology and all things language. I'm currently a speech engineer at Qualtrics. Before that, I was an AI/ML intern at NASA, researching how NLU can be used to improve the efficiency and safety of air traffic control operations.

In terms of past projects, I wrote my thesis on using transfer learning techniques to improve dysarthric speech recognition. I created a humor classifier along with other students for one of my classes. I also implemented a modified version of LexRank, an unsupervised text summarization algorithm, for a class project, and worked on a debiasing a entity-based sentiment classifier during my internship at SIFT.

I also made a world languages quiz game to test your knowledge of the world's languages! Click here or the Language Quiz button in the navigation bar to play the game.
