Hi there! I'm Hilly, and I'm a computational linguist and software engineer. I'm passionate about accessible technology and all things language. I'm currently a speech engineer at Qualtrics. I graduated from at the University of Washington with a master's degree in computational linguistics in June, 2023. Before Qualtrics, I was an AI/ML intern at NASA, researching how NLU can be used to improve the efficiency and safety of aircraft taxiing.

In terms of past projects, I wrote my thesis on using transfer learning techniques to improve dysarthric speech recognition. I created a humor classifier along with other students for one of my classes. I also implemented a modified version of LexRank, an unsupervised text summarization algorithm, for a class project, and worked on a debiasing a entity-based sentiment classifier during my internship at SIFT.
